Committed, compassionate volunteers are the heart and soul of the American Red Cross. As a volunteer, you play a vital role in fulfilling the Red Cross mission. No matter your interests, skills or schedule, you can make a significant contribution to the community.

In the Capital Region Chapter, nearly 1,200 dedicated people volunteer their time and energy to help us serve the community.

Attend an Orientation
Sign up for one of our free volunteer orientation sessions. During the orientation, you will learn about the mission and programs of the Red Cross, as well as the volunteer opportunities that are available.

Volunteer Assignment
Following  your orientation, contact your local Red Cross office to schedule a one-on-one interview where we'll discuss your skills and interests and identify a volunteer position for you!

Before placement, all volunteers are asked to complete a basic background check.
